[Finished] Redemption (BTS - Mafia AU)
  • Myung
  • I paced around the house, even if Namjoon had called to tell me that Logan, Hoseok and Hanuel were safe. It felt like a huge weight lifted off my chest knowing they were okay, especially Logan…my precious little Logan.
  • I was so worried and I could not help but blame myself. I should have known better, but how could I have known? I never suspected Jennie at all. I never even doubted her, or rather it never crossed my mind that she would do something like this. How could she use my son against Hanuel?
  • Namjoon briefly told me what happened with Hanuel and it honestly both scared me and worried me. I could not help but think about Hoseok and Hanuel. How horrible is it to watch the person you love drowning in front of you?
  • ‘Ma’am, they’re here, they’re just parking,’ Soobin said as I nodded and rushed out of the room.
  • I ran to the entrance just as they walked in. I froze for a moment as I saw Hoseok holding a limp and unconscious Hanuel in his arms while Namjoon was holding our son.
  • ‘My baby,’ I cried out as I ran to Namjoon who carefully opened his arm and let me run to him. He hugged me tightly as I kissed Logan. ‘Ohh baby. Eomma’s sorry. She’s so sorry,’ I said, unable to hide the tears.
  • ‘Yeobo it’s not your fault,’ Namjoon said softly as he kissed the top of my head. I sniffed as I pulled slightly from the hug to look at the others.
  • ‘Is she okay?’ I asked as I felt a wave of sadness hitting me. She was in that state because she chose to save my son and Hoseok.
  • ‘She’s cold and needs rest but she will be okay, I hope. She did spend quite some time,’ Jin paused as he seemed to think of his words carefully. He looked at Hoseok but Hoseok seemed to be in a world of his own as he just stared at the girl in his arms. ‘I mean her heart had stopped for quite some time. Hopefully, there was no damage but she had talked and called for Hoseok so I have high hopes,’ Jin said.
  • ‘We probably should get her into a warm bath, right?’ Hoseok asked suddenly and Jin nodded.
  • ‘Use the one in our room. The bath there is bigger. You can use our bedroom,’ Namjoon offered and I nodded in agreement. Hoseok nodded once as he took off to our room. I watched as he left while we remained there.
  • ‘What happened exactly yeobo? I know you said that Jennie betrayed us and that Hanuel was close to dying,’ I said.
  • ‘She did die noona,’ Taehyung whispered. The boy who was always so collected seemed like he been scolded. ‘She did die,’ he repeated as he shivered and tears seemed to pool in his eyes.
  • ‘What do you mean? What happened?’ I asked again as Namjoon sighed.
  • ‘Jennie had been the mind behind a lot of things. She gave Vindictae the information about the party which allowed her to break in and do a parade with Lux’s body,’ Namjoon began to explain.
  • ‘Oh damn. I just can’t understand why Jennie would do something like this? What did she have to gain?’ I asked.
  • ‘From what Hoseok said in the car, she loved Hoseok and was jealous of Hanuel. She felt invisible ever since Hanuel joined us,’ Jimin said with a shrug.
  • ‘So Vindictae knew that Hanuel would run wanting to protect us. Hanuel knew we were safe and guarded here but nobody thought of a traitor. Jennie gave our son to the Scarlets and then Jennie lured Hoseok there,’ Namjoon explained.
  • ‘Where is she now? Where is that backstabbing * who thought could use my son as a pawn and hurt Hanuel?’ I asked, feeling angry and hurt.
  • ‘She’s dead. Hoseok said Vindictae killed her without any remorse,’ Yoongi said and I nodded.
  • I was not sure how I felt about it. She had used my son and because of her Hanuel almost died but thinking she was killed like that still made me feel bad.
  • ‘It seems as if she forced Hanuel to choose – who to kill, either our son or Hoseok. She couldn’t kill either so took her life instead,’ Namjoon explained.
  • ‘Oh God,’ I mumbled as I looked up at the stairs. ‘That woman, I… she doesn’t realize how good she actually is,’ I said.
  • ‘You’re right,’ Jungkook said in agreement. ‘I just hope she’ll be okay,’ he said and I nodded as well.
  • ‘Yoongi, we need to make sure we are a step ahead of Vindictae. Something in my gut tells me this is far from over,’ Namjoon said.
  • ‘I think so too. If she finds out Hanuel is still alive, she will come for her,’ Yoongi said and I frowned.
  • ‘We’ll protect her better this time. Make sure she won’t be alone,’ Taehyung said.
  • ‘Namjoon, I probably should go help Hobi with her,’ I suggested and he nodded.
  • ‘You’re right. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of Logan. You go help,’ he said. I kissed Logan and gave a peck to Namjoon before I hurried to our room. I knocked before I pushed open the door and saw Hoseok picking an almost naked Hanuel.
  • ‘I came to help,’ I said as Hoseok just nodded. He looked worn out – his eyes red and puffy and his skin pale. There was no hint of his usual smile and I sighed, knowing he was still dealing with the shock of it all.
  • I followed him to the bathroom as I watched him put her into the bath carefully. He made sure her head was comfortable while the water covered her body.
  • ‘Here, let’s use these,’ I said as I picked some essential bath oils and put them in. Once more he nodded as we both grabbed some bath sponges and sat down next to the bath.
  • I grabbed her arm gently as I began to scrub at her skin. I passed by her Scarlet tattoo and I could not help but get a chill. I paused slightly, thousands of thoughts running through my head. Yet, the most prominent one was – how different would her life have been if she had never been forced to become a Scarlet?
  • I sighed as I continued scrubbing. I passed by a scar on her shoulder. ‘Should we wash her back?’ he asked quietly and I nodded.
  • ‘Yeah. You hold her and I’ll scrub there,’ I said. He moved her forward as he held her securely against his arms, almost as if he was afraid to let her go, not caring that he was getting his clothes wet.
  • I gasped, even though I had seen all these scars before. ‘I’ve seen those scars too many times but no matter how many times I see them, they still get to me,’ Hoseok whispered, his voice barely audible.
  • ‘I hate seeing them,’ I admitted as I began to scrub there. I felt him tense a little as he looked at me.
  • ‘I hate them too. I hate everything she had to go through, all the hardship and everything she lost. I know it’s what made her who she is but it hurts knowing she went through all of that,’ he said and I nodded as he let her rest against the bathtub.
  • I looked at him as he gently caressed her cheek. The last time I saw him this gentle and soft was with his son. It made my heart leap, knowing Hoseok loved her and knowing she must love him too to give up her life for him.
  • ‘Hobi, let’s get her dressed in some night clothes and bring her to bed, hmm?’ I asked. He shook his head, almost as if to pull out from the trance. He looked at me and nodded as he picked her up.
  • She groaned as I wrapped a towel around her. ‘Hey Cherry,’ he whispered as he touched her cheek, forcing her to look at him.
  • ‘H—hobi?’ she asked and he nodded as he kissed her forehead. ‘Wh—what happened? Where am I?’ she asked.
  • ‘It doesn’t matter for now. You’re safe. We gave you a warm bath. Do you think you can get dressed so you can get some sleep?’ he asked and she nodded, almost on the automatic.
  • We helped her to get dry and then dressed in some of my clothes. She moved slowly, almost as ifher whole body weighed twice its normal weight. Hoseok picked her up and put her into bed before he crawled next to her. It was almost as if I was invisible but I did not mind. I knew he needed to feel her next to him, in his arms to calm down.
  • I walked out of the room, turning off the lights to dim as I closed the door. I found Namjoon waiting by the door as I smiled at him. I knew he was worried about both of them as well.
  • ‘Taehyung is with Logan before you ask me,’ he said, making me smile. ‘How are they?’ he asked as he grabbed my hand and we began to walk away to the balcony.
  • I stayed silent until we went out into the balcony. I sighed as I looked at Namjoon who had me trapped between his arms. ‘She’s exhausted but to be expected. The girl almost died. Her body took a bad toll,’ I said with a huff.
  • ‘And Hoseok?’ he asked and I sighed once more. ‘I can’t imagine he’s doing too well. The last time I saw him like that was when he lost his son and wife,’ he said.
  • ‘He loves her. If I had my doubts before, they’re all gone now Joon. The way he looks at her, it’s clear as dawn,’ I said and he nodded.
  • ‘It really broke my heart seeing him literally break down when she was not breathing. He sounded so desperate and lost,’ he said.
  • ‘I’m just glad you guys got her heart working again,’ I said, shivering.
  • ‘I…it was so scary Myung. I was holding Logan and I was just watching as Jin, Jungkook and Hoseok were giving her CPR. I lost count of how many compressions they had to or how many times Hoseok breathed into her. It felt like every second that passed it got scarier,’ he said and I nodded.
  • ‘I know baby. I’m glad Yoongi managed to intercept that message that was sent to Hanuel,’ I said.
  • ‘Hanuel had apparently gave him access to that network, some time ago, just in case, for emergency,’ Namjoon explained.
  • ‘Well it definitely worked,’ I said. ‘It most likely saved her life, maybe even Hoseok’s and Logan’s,’ I said as I shuddered.
  • ‘Could it be although by the time we arrived, there was no sign of her. I don’t know if she was keeping her word or just didn’t want to risk it,’ Namjoon said and I nodded.
  • ‘It worries me that she got away Joon. What if she comes after her again? We know how Hanuel is. Even after what she went through, she won’t risk this family’s safety,’ I said.
  • ‘I know baby and it worries me too. A part of me is so angry at her for leaving like that, for not letting us protect her. It makes me furious because her leaving like that made her and us vulnerable and then I remember that she was ready to make herself a target so we could be safe. Then I remember that she put her life on the line for that of Hoseok and Logan and I feel like a selfish prick who doesn’t deserve her,’ he said, almost tearing up.
  • ‘Hey, she knows we would do anything to protect her,’ I said. ‘We just have to keep an eye on her. Something tells me she might go for the fight this time instead of waiting around,’ I said.
  • ‘We know their tradition yeobo. If she goes for that, we won’t be able to do much. She’ll have to face Vindictae on her own and take her place,’ Namjoon said, sounding worried.
  • ‘I know. We’ll see when we come to it. The most important thing is that she knows she’s not alone,’ I said and he nodded.
  • ‘Yeah. Let’s go check on Yeonjun, see how he is doing,’ he suggested.
  • ‘That’s a good idea, come on, let’s go,’ I said as I grabbed his hand in mine.
